RUOK is a harm prevention charity that encourages conversations to stay connected through difficult times. Asking the question, can save a life. Pet ownership increased significantly during the Covid-19 pandemic and this resulted in increasing pressures on the veterinary industry. This is on top of an already 25% increased prevalence of anxiety and depression during this time. Veterinary suicide is a real and growing problem and our clients can help. In the interests of helping the pets we love, we all need to be part of the solution, - veterinary staff, professional organisations and pet owners. We can communicate our struggles to pet owners through the sharing of information such as this website below. https://www.vetsarepeopletoo.com/ Everyone can take part in raising awareness for mental health issues within our industry and by looking after each other and checking in regularly that people are OK.
