We use finger trap sutures to secure various tubes such as oesophageal feeding tubes and closed suction drains in place.
"Mechanical properties of 6 finger-trap suture techniques" Earley 2017 is a paper looking at various ways to tie this suture. One of the 'winners' in terms of being the most secure technique (from this paper) is demonstrated in the video.
In my experience, I think one of the most important things is the tension on your throws around the tubing (I aim to tighten such that there is a slight 'dent' in the tube).
