A better option for a penrose drain for cat-bite abscesses?

This is a quick video to demonstrate how to make a closed-suction drain from a simple butterfly catheter. These drains are easy to manage, cheap, are less messy for owners when the cat goes home and are less likely to get infected versus an uncovered penrose drain. The serum blood tube needs replacing, so send the owner home with a couple of spares, but this is simple to do. Ensure a tight seal around the drain exit site. If there is not a tight seal, you will not get a suction effect from the serum tube (i.e. place an extra suture to close the incision where the drain exits if needed). Acknowledgements - Cinematography - Dr Clarke, what a legend, such steady hands.
