Making an emergency tracheostomy tube from a plain ET Tube.
Thank you to Specialist Dr Ellie Leister, from Pet ICU, for helping me make this short video on how to make an emergency tracheostomy tube from an ET tube. The use of these is her preference to the more expensive, temporary tracheostomy tubes that you may not have in stock in general practice.
Indication for temporary tracheostomy is any cause of upper airway obstruction, especially if this obstruction is expected to take time to resolve (e.g. swelling after airway surgery or neck trauma, neoplasia).
